The past few years have tested us like never before. Severe droughts swept through, leaving paddocks bare and hay supplies scarce. What little hay we could find came at record prices, and each load felt like both a victory and a heartbreak. When you care for so many souls — each one needing food, shelter, and medical care — these challenges become daily battles.
And while the skies finally offered some rain, the challenges didn’t stop there. We’ve seen record numbers of lambs arriving at our gates over the past two years. Innocent lives, unwanted by the industries they were born into — each one deserving of the chance to grow, to heal, and to live.
But as our rescued family grows, our volunteer numbers have struggled to keep up. Sanctuary life is full of ups and downs — days of exhaustion, heartbreak, joy, and gratitude, often all at once. There are moments when we feel stretched thin, yet every time we see one of our residents take their first peaceful steps toward freedom, we’re reminded exactly why we do this.
